Hi all, got a letter yesterday saying that I have been refused dla after I asked for a reconsideration. Totally sucks, but am not going to take it to appeal as cannot bear to think of the stress that would be involved!

Never mind, worse things happen at sea!!!

I'm so sorry you were refused DLA Heather when no doubt you are entitiled to it.
I know how you feel about going to appeal, you just think why should I give them another chance to tell me what I can and can't do? I get the low care component, have had it for about 6 years and when I got worse I tried to get it upgraded but was turned down, at least I kept the low care amount and it's indefinite now! They obviously think there is no chance of me being cured but know better than the docs that I won't get worse!
Wait a few months and then try applying again and get someone like the CAB to help you with the forms.

hi Heather,

really sorry you were turned down for DLA.

it makes you feel like you are asking for a handout rather than something you deserve !!

i could no way go to a Tribunal i would have to close the door on it if i was turned down ( i don't get it )

try not to let it get you down although i can understand how frustrating this is.

Heather ,
you have nothing to lose by appealing and everything to win, there is a little stress involved but that is nothing compared to the help the money can be ..the tribunal is fairly friendly and you will be asked a few questions , people who attend stand a better chance of winning , and you get your travel there paid for .
Read this leaflet that i have quoted before .
DLA appeals guide

Get an appeal form from the Jobcenter plus (GL24) fill it in stating the reasons you disagree with the decision. And get an Advice Agency involved .
Best of Luck

Hi everyone, thanks for the replies. Ive decided not to go ahead and appeal. If things get worse (hope not!) then I will consider it again.

Cheers
